Jovani Monexil is an LL.M. candidate in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law. During her studies, Jovani has explored coursework in Human Rights & Technology, Business & Human Right, and Climate Change. She is admitted to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia and has experience litigating matters in both state and federal courts. In her current legal practice, she advises nonprofit leaders and founders on legal matters involving organizational governance and compliance. Before beginning her legal career, Jovani worked as a purser and flight attendant with a major airline, traveling throughout the United States and abroad. This experience broadened her global perspective and deepened her appreciation for diverse cultures and communities. From 2021 to 2025, she volunteered at a local faith-based shelter in Tampa, Florida, where she tutored women experiencing poverty as they worked toward earning their GEDs and vocational skills certificates. Through this service, she supported women seeking to strengthen their employment opportunities and increase their earning potential, so they can progress toward greater self-suƯiciency. She is delighted to join IASJ and looks forward to contributing her legal experience, global perspective, and commitment to human dignity in furtherance of its mission.
