Aaron Acosta joined Investor Advocates for Social Justice in July 2022. As a Program Director, he leads IASJ’s Human Rights in the Value Chain campaign and supports on the labor rights, racial equity & immigrants’ rights, and peace & demilitarization campaigns. As a California attorney with years of international experience in Latin America at the intersection of transitional justice and business and human rights, Aaron brings with him a global perspective and a critical approach to fighting against corporate abuse and injustices committed against the marginalized and vulnerable.
Prior to joining the IASJ team, Aaron Acosta worked in Colombia as a transitional justice researcher at Dejusticia, where his research and advocacy focused primarily on accountability, in Colombia’s special peace tribunal (JEP), for economic actors who participated in the armed conflict. In law school, Aaron had the privilege to work on forced labor issues in India, an assassinated journalist case in Honduras, and Yugoslavian criminal prosecutions in the Netherlands. He also externed with the United States Attorney’s Office and wrote a report with the UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Racism. At IASJ, Aaron Acosta brings to the position this broad experience, both geographically and thematically, in human rights work and an unflagging enthusiasm to fight for justice.
Aaron graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a B.A. in Business Administration. Subsequently, he earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and is a member of the State Bar of California. He is also fluent in Spanish. Contact Aaron at aacosta@iasj.org.
